Punch and roll is a life saver and I doubly value the technology, after viewing a YouTube demo of old-school splicing techniques used in the days before our digital software applications . While it is possible to do limited do-overs on quarter-inch tape, never again will the need to punch and roll to drop in content feel tedious for me. Shown here, the Editall splicing block (still available on Amazon) to hold the tape, a razor blade to cut out the marked section, and Scotch editing tape to fasten the cut ends back together. Almost always you got a “tick” noise when the splice went past the head. Yes, thankfully the technology’s come a long way!
