a simpler day

Among tangible keepsakes from our late father is this Smith Corona portable typewriter, after a restoration service. From time to time, I insert a sheet of paper and tap away (absence of an Escape key is a real pain!). What a contrast to my world now . . devices, apps, software, high speed internet, and technology. And while my attitude pushes back, the old typewriter in fact captures pretty well the niche my voice is appealing to in audiobook circles. An invitation I received the other day confirms: The author is in search of an “elderly, gruff, male” for his new release. And I’m starting to embrace where the vibe is leading!
